NT6 is the official Windows NT platform version of Windows Vista/7/8/8.1.
Windows 10 and 11 are NT v. 10.0
As you can see, these numbers don't mean much. But NT6, starting with Vista, was the beginning
of forced restrictions on Windows. Those restrictions have gradually become more intrusive and
more obstructive.
NT6 Fix is designed to be an easy solution to remove all restrictions from
as many files/folders as you like -- quickly and easily.
Explanation - The Basic Problem with the Design of Windows NT:
Windows NT security is designed for corporate workstations,
where the network is trusted but the PC user is not. Small office and home (SOHo)
PC security is the reverse: People using the PC are generally trusted but the Internet is not.
The former approach is like locking every room and cabinet in the house
while leaving the front door open. The latter approach is like leaving the
entire house open on the inside, with a solid lock on the front door -- Two different designs for two different situations.
Unfortunately, Microsoft really only makes one version of Windows NT: the corporate workstation operating system.
It's meant to be used by whatever corporate employee happens to sit at the machine to do their work. That person is only meant to
be able to access their personal folder.
Windows "Home", "Professional" and "Enterprise" are just marketing gimmicks, denoting versions of Windows with various features added or removed.
As a result, Windows NT is poorly suited to SOHo customers.
The basic problem is not that Microsoft provides lots of security features for Windows.
The problem is that those features
are designed to be convoluted, confusing and largely inaccessible. It has gotten so bad that
Microsoft is locking you out of your own PC. That also serves a second purpose besides security: Microsoft are
gradually designing Windows to be a service. You'll be locked out and charged rental fees to use your own computer,
with all the software pretending to be online, as is currently true with MS Office 365 and Adobe Photoshop. They're
still software programs installed on your computer, but they pretend to be online rental services.
The idea of fixing NT6 means making it as easy as possible for you, the owner of your PC,
to use that PC as you see fit. Period.

NT6+ Restriction Fix
Remove restrictions that prevent you from editing, moving or deleting files.
NT6+ Restriction Fix is a simple utility. It is designed to remove the file and folder access restrictions
that prevent you from controlling your own PC. NT6+ Restriction Fix is designed to do that in a very simple,
easy way. You just browse for a folder and click a button to remove
all restrictions. You can remove restrictions on all files and folders from that level down, if you like. You can remove
all file access restrictions for
all people who run as Administrator. That's it. There are no arcane command-line incantations to learn, and you don't need to run
NT6+ Restriction Fix
from a DOS console window like a geek out of 1980. Just browse for a folder or file and click a button.
•
Control important files: The
HOSTS file, in
Windows\System32\Drivers\etc
is an important file that should be under your control.
HOSTS is just one of many files which belong to you and
should be controlled by you, but instead have been locked down so that you cannot access them.
Caveats:
•
Risks: Note that there can be risks with removing file restrictions. With no restrictions,
anyone can access those files, including hackers on your system. You also need to be careful not to
delete or alter critical system files.
NT6+ Restriction Fix can
remove restrictions. It cannot put them back.
•
Note about Dragdrop: In Windows 10, even if you set User Account Control (UAC) to
its lowest level there are still some odd restrictions due to a semi-secret setting known as Limited User Account (LUA).
Essentially that means that turning off UAC doesn't turn it off. One of the odd things that LUA breaks is drag/drop.
If you try to drop a file or folder onto
NT6 Fix with LUA enabled, it won't work!
NT6 Fix
provides an optional setting to disable LUA.

System Requirements:
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10:
File restrictions and so-called "permissions" are part of the NTFS file system. (A "file system" here refers to how the hard disk is formatted
and structured.) Windows 2000/XP
can be installed on NTFS. Windows Vista+
is installed on NTFS.
NT6+ Restriction Fix
can be used on any Windows NT system (2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10) that is installed on NTFS. NT6 Fix should work
fine on Windows 11 because it uses standard Windows NT permissions functions dating back to NT4. But it has not been tested on Win11.
There are no special requirements for
NT6+ Restriction Fix and the software does not need to be installed.
The download is a ZIP file that contains the program EXE file and a help file.

ADS Hunter - Fixing the Shortcomings of Windows Explorer
ADS Hunter addresses the problem of hidden ADS files (alternate data streams) that Windows Explorer cannot see.
ADS Hunter is like Explorer for ADS files. Select any folder and
ADS Hunter displays all hidden ADS files,
just as Explorer displays all normal files. With
ADS Hunter you can scan for ADS files, with options to
read, delete, or save copies to disk.
If you are not familiar with the problem of ADS files, see the
Stream Viewer page for
an explanation.
System Requirements:
ADS Hunter can be used on Windows XP through Windows 11, when those systems are installed on
the NTFS file system. (ADS files are only possible on NTFS.) There are no special requirements for
ADS Hunter and the software does not need to be installed.

Vista/7 Folder Fix
Windows XP has an Explorer bug that has never been fixed. The result of
that bug is that under normal conditions XP will not remember selected folder window
size and style display options.
XP Folder Fix
was developed to fix that problem. It repairs the folder settings that Explorer saves in the
Registry.
Folder window settings in Windows 7 seem to work better than in
XP, but if you have trouble with display type or folder window size being "forgotten"
by Explorer, Vista/7 Folder Fix should take care of it. Microsoft is famous for breaking compatibility between product
versions willy nilly, often in very minor ways. Explorer Registry settings are an example
of such an irresponsible and pointless change. The settings in Vista/7 vary from XP just enough that XP Folder Fix
will not work on Windows 7. The Vista/7 Folder Fix utility is essentially the same as
XP Folder Fix, but it has been updated to account for the changes Microsoft made
in Windows Vista/7.
(Folder settings in Windows 10 are similar to Windows 7 but unfortunately it doesn't work in
quite the same way. Once again, Microsoft changed it just enough to break tweaking tools.
